Why we chose to build Paradise Tycoon on Avalanche

Thriving and sustainable gaming experience is a crucial part in our ‘Games First’ approach. Approach that has been built-in to our team during the years in games industry, developing and publishing mobile games reaching top 10 download charts while amassing over 2.5 million players. Together with the most brilliant minds in blockchain space, our team is now working on launching Paradise Tycoon, our most ambitious game to date.
Paradise Tycoon presents a beautiful MMO world where players can gather resources, explore, build and craft items for their own use or to trade with others. Players can buy land and hire workers to make their life easier, or sell them as NFTs. In the meantime, they will be earning real money with MOANI token in a friendly and social metaverse.
Paradise Tycoon is a Free to Play and Earn game which can be described as a unique hybrid between life simulation, like the ultra popular Animal Crossing, and Tycoon gameplay elements, such as in classic PC title The Settlers. Combine these with the best familiar game mechanics, very polished Low Poly 3D graphics, and a sustainable Play and Earn economy, and you have Paradise Tycoon.
Our long-term vision is to develop Paradise Tycoon as the first game within our shared Empires Metaverse and kickstart a lifelong gaming journey from there. To bring this vision to life, we had to make a major decision that will shape the future of our game, brand, and community.
Why we chose Avalanche for Paradise Tycoon
When we began the process to evaluate best network for Paradise Tycoon we had three main criteria; technical performance, market fundamentals and community & ecosystem. Here’s a brief recap of why we believe Avalanche is by far the most prominent blockchain network for blockchain games.
Technical Performance
Let’s start with technology, because that’s where it all eventually comes down to. No community or marketing can save your project if it’s built on tech that doesn’t perform well enough.
Avalanche is EVM compatible, which is vital for several key reasons. For one, it allows us to write the code once, and then deploy it across a wide range of different blockchains with minor modifications at most. This is incredibly efficient as it allows us to add features without requiring us to rewrite the code completely for each different chain. This will make Avalanche bridging an option if we move towards a more dynamic, multi-chain future.
Avalanche is also the fastest smart contract platform measured in time-to-finality, very important factor in creating low latency, glitch-free, seamless user experience, basic requirement in mainstream games. To put it in numbers, Avalanche’s breakthrough consensus protocol is efficient and scalable, with the ability to handle high levels of throughput (4500+ tps) and the lowest transactional Finality (< 2 sec).
Despite the blazing speed, Avalanche is still very energy efficient, and the gas fee’s on Avalanche are less than a tenth of what they cost on Ethereum (hovering around $0.10–0.25), and then there’s the Subnets. You can’t talk about Avalanche technology without getting a little bit hyped up about the Subnets, something a lot of people, we included are very bullish on.
Use of subnets can effectively solve the network congestions issues the project would otherwise face when scaling up, but that’s not all, with gaming sessions and in-game asset trading activities taking place in our own Subnet, it would create an ecofriendly environment where MOANI token could be used for gas fees, without compromising on security or decentralization. Market Fundamentals
As any ambitious project would, we want to position ourselves to where the growth is, and when it comes to blockchain networks, that’s Avalanache. Breaking it down to numbers, the network usage in terms of active daily addresses has increased by 1900% during the later half in 2021, the market cap has increased from roughly $2 billion to a whopping $25 billion, with total locked value of $12 billion, a staggering 100x compared to the $0.19 billion in Q2 2021. The parabolic increase can be seen in any metric and although the events unveiled in early 2022 caused some downshift in the market cap, AVAX fared well in comparison to some of its contending networks.
The numbers do not come as a surprise, given the technological advantage, however it is also result of the very active community, which is the final part of our evaluation.
Community & Ecosystem
The avalanche community is vibrant and enthusiastic and is rapidly increasing in numbers along with the entire ecosystem. Avalanche Foundation is constantly finding new ways to support projects in the ecosystem. The community is the rock-solid foundation we’re building on which will allow us to achieve all our goals for Paradise Tycoon and our team is eagerly looking forward and committed to playing a key role in the Avalanche’s ongoing GameFi expansion.
That concludes the recap of our network review process. Although the process took us some time, the decision was ultimately quite easy, and as each day passes our confidence in our decision grows stronger as we learn more about what Avalanche is capable of, and what the community behind it is planning next.
