Paradise Update: From Backend Rebuild to NFT Evolution and UGC Monetization
The past couple of months have been spent where players see the least, but where it matters the most: under the hood.
Most of our time has gone into backend development. We made the decision to replace AWS entirely, not because we wanted change for the sake of change, but because we wanted Paradise to be built on something sustainable. Too many Web3 games have run into a wall when server costs start bloating over time. We did not want to build toward that trap.
A New Backend, Built for Scale
After rebuilding the stack and optimizing aggressively, we’ve reduced monthly server costs by around 90%, with no performance reduction whatsoever. In fact, the new setup is better. Our new server will be based in Helsinki and hosted together with the database, which means latency between the in-game server and the economy data is now practically zero. That matters more than it sounds. In a game like Paradise Tycoon, where gameplay, progression, trading, and economy systems are constantly interacting, this kind of setup creates a much stronger foundation for everything that comes next. It also unlocks features we simply could not move forward with at the same pace before. This is not just cost cutting. It is a major technical upgrade.
NFTs Are Moving, and Evolving!
At the same time, we have been preparing to migrate all Paradise NFTs to Avalanche. NFTs will move to C-Chain, where player wallets already are, while transactions inside the game continue to happen on Paradise Chain L1. This gives us the best of both worlds: much easier onboarding for players, much less friction around wallets, and no more unnecessary hassle between Avalanche and Immutable. Alongside that migration, happening at the end of this month, we’re launching a major update to the NFT minting system. A new merge mechanic will allow players to burn NFTs into fragments and combine those fragments into higher-level NFTs. This will drastically increase scarcity for rare NFTs, make progression more meaningful, and for the first time open the door for Mythical NFTs. Full introduction to the new mechanics is coming next week. Paradise NFTs are about to become much more exciting.
Economy and Creator Systems
Another major pillar now well underway is Economy 2.0. The goal here is simple: create bigger incentives for MOANI usage, encourage real demand, and make extraction and botting far more cumbersome. We want to reward players who are actually here to play, progress, and enjoy the game, while pushing the system further away from short-term, purely extractive behavior. We believe sustainable Web3 gaming has to work this way. Economy 2.0 is planned to roll out during Q2, and long-time tycoons will notice the difference.
Q2 will also bring one of the most requested updates yet: the UGC Update. Over the past two months, you’ve created some of the best islands we’ve seen, and now we want you to be able to monetize that creativity. The update will introduce two major features, along with more ways to acquire creator coins and new blocks. One feature will allow players to create their own events with prize pools through Paradise Cloud. The other is a more flexible monetization mechanism built around a tipping jar, where you make the rules. Together, these systems are designed to give players much more freedom to create experiences for the community, while finally adding direct upside for creators.
Opening Up the World
And after the UGC features, we move toward something equally anticipated: opening up the world itself. Players will be able to sail from island to island without hitting the invisible wall, exploring new locations and finding loot and treasury along the way. This feature is already in testing, but it is not a small one. It depends heavily on the kind of server-side foundation we have now spent months rebuilding. With the new backend in place, we can finally move forward.
It’s going to be an exciting Q2. No matter the state of Web3 gaming around us, we continue building toward our long-term vision. Paradise was never meant to be a short cycle project. We are building for the future, and now the foundation is catching up with the ambition. The next months are going to make that very clear.
